Bookmarking Video Clips
Dabble gives you the ability to bookmark videos and keep them all organized.
Just install the bookmarklet by dragging it to your Favorites (IE) or Browser bookmark bar or "Chrome" (Firefox). Then, the next time you find yourself watching a video you'd like to keep track of for later, click on the "Add to Dabble" bookmarklet or Favorite to store the video in your media collection. People are probably emailing you links to video clips all the time. The bookmarklet will also give you a chance to store links to video you would like to watch later.
The bookmarklet is located in two places: 1. the top left sidebar module under your username and 2. under the Add Media page.
To install within Internet Explorer on the PC - Right click on the "Add to Dabble" link and add to Favorites.
To install within Firefox Mac/PC and Safari - Drag the "Add to Dabble" bookmarklet to your browser's bookmark tool bar (that's the chrome just under the URL bar).
Adding a video to dabble
Next time you see a cool video clip on the web, click on the "Add To Dabble" bookmarklet link or select "Add to Dabble" from your Favorites menu. This will launch the bookmarklet and allow you to add the record to Dabble. You can either select some text on the page before you launch the bookmarklet for it to grab as a description, select the description you want by clicking on the entry's corresponding thumbnail image, or enter a description by hand after the bookmarklet launches.
The bookmarklet will try to accurately grab the title and url of the page you're on, and display any images it finds on the page so you can choose one of them as the thumbnail.
Next, give it some "tags" (keywords about the subject matter of the video). Then include any other information you wish about the video in the fields provided.
If you know more details about the video, such as the publish date, language, contributors (actors, directors, producers, etc.), or technical details (such as file size, or links to alternate formats), scroll down in the bookmarklet window to add that information.
How Playlists Work
A playlist is a collection of media that can be played within Dabble or exported as an RSS feed to be played by Video-aware RSS readers, such as FireAnt.
Creating playlists makes it easier for you to group media items and keep them organized. You can play media items in a certain order and rearrange their order whenever you'd like. You can also send playlists to your contacts so they can check them out.
You can use the playlist block on the left to create new playlists, add media to playlists, and play playlists. Click on "Edit" in the playlist block to add a description and tags to your playlist.
When you're viewing your playlists or another user's playlists, you can click on "add to favorites" to make that playlist a favorite.
Your favorites can be found at "my favorites" under the "mine" menu.
When on your own Edit screen, or when viewing another's playlist, if you are logged in, you can add tags, send the playlist to a contact, or email it to up to 5 friends.
There are several ways you can search and browse through playlists. Click on "Playlists" on the menu bar to browse through Recent Playlists, Contacts Playlists or our Top 10 Playlists.
Using People Search
People Search allows you to find people you know on Dabble. To find it, click on "Contacts" and then select "People Search," and enter the real name or username of the person you're trying to find.
Using Request
Request is Dabble's classified listings service. You can track all the latest film festivals, search for footage you need, post information about footage you have, or look for others with similar interests.
Using Safe Browsing
Safe Browsing by default allows you to browse or search any content on Dabble in "family friendly" mode by default. To use it, don't do anything. You will already be in safe mode. If you wish to change this mode, and are over 18, then click the toggle "ON" button to be switched to the "OFF" mode. If you wish to switch safe browsing back on, simply click the toggle ON / OFF switch again.
If you find a video at Dabble that you find "objectionable" you are encouraged to click the "Flag as Objectionable" button under the video listing. See examples below. More information is located at our FAQ.
